Secondupdate.com – Starring in a big-budget film isn’t always a pleasant experience. For some actors, the filming process can be incredibly stressful, especially when acting alongside major stars.

This was exactly what Jason Isaacs experienced during the production of Armageddon (1998). In the film, he played NASA scientist Ronald Quincy. However, instead of feeling proud, Isaacs found the shoot to be nerve-wracking.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter via the Awards Chatter podcast, Isaacs shared that his first day on set felt like a rollercoaster ride—full of tension and uncertainty.

He even received a sharp remark from director Michael Bay after completing a scene.

“On my first day, I did one scene where I spoke, and Michael Bay said, ‘Hey, what was that? Theater training?’ And I was absolutely terrified, of course, thinking I was going to get fired. I was clearly shouting all over the place,” Isaacs recalled.

“I said, ‘Sorry.’ My voice went up about five octaves. And he said, ‘Is that what they teach you in drama school?’ And I thought, Oh God. This is my worst nightmare. So I rushed up to him and asked, ‘Was it terrible?’ And he said, ‘No. It was amazing.’”

That unexpected praise from Michael Bay boosted Isaacs’s confidence on set. Even though his role in Armageddon was relatively minor, he managed to showcase his acting chops and earn the director’s appreciation.

The experience had a significant impact on Isaacs’s career. Shortly afterward, he landed the role of the main villain in The Patriot (2000) alongside Mel Gibson, appeared in Black Hawk Down (2001) directed by Ridley Scott, and most famously, played Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).
