Secondupdate.com - Veteran actress Tilda Swinton has announced that she will be taking a break from acting. She feels the need to take some time to "adjust" and reevaluate her life.

In an interview with The Guardian, Swinton explained that she is not leaving the film industry entirely but will be reducing her involvement in certain aspects of it.

The actress, best known for playing the White Witch in The Chronicles of Narnia, shared that she wants to take an extended period to reflect on her future and how she can continue to contribute meaningfully.

"I’m not leaving the film world. I’m just stepping away from certain aspects of it," Swinton said, as quoted by NME on Friday (March 14).

Swinton also revealed that for the next few months, she will not be traveling or taking on any new film projects.

Recently, she attended the Berlin Film Festival to promote her latest film, The End, directed by Joshua Oppenheimer (The Act of Killing).

Set two decades after an environmental catastrophe devastates the world, the film follows a billionaire family trying to survive in a luxurious bunker while the world outside burns. The End is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on March 28.

Swinton is well-known for starring in arthouse films, having appeared in notable works like We Need to Talk About Kevin, Snowpiercer, Adaptation, and Only Lovers Left Alive over the past three decades.

In the mainstream film industry, she is also widely recognized for portraying The Ancient One in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Now, with her decision to take a break, Swinton hopes to live a more balanced life.
