Secondupdate.com – London-born musician Daniel Blumberg has just won an Oscar for "Best Original Score" for his work on the film The Brutalist.

This victory came as quite a surprise, considering Blumberg is better known as an experimental artist rather than a commercial musician.

Blumberg is not only a talented composer but also a visual artist who loves to experiment with imagery. One of his signature works is the cube figure, which he creates in various forms, from simple models to abstract pieces in silver tones. Many of his works can be seen on his Instagram account (@danielblumberg).

"My favorite thing in the world is drawing," Blumberg said, as quoted by The Guardian on Wednesday.

Although widely recognized in the experimental art world, Blumberg has also won several commercial awards.

The Brutalist, a film directed by Brady Corbet about a Hungarian modernist architect working in post-war America, also took home several BAFTA awards, including "Best Original Music."

Previously, in 2022, he won the "Best Original Film Score" award at the Ivor Novello Awards for his music in The World to Come (2020).

Before becoming a renowned film composer, Blumberg was part of several indie bands. He was a member of Cajun Dance Party (2005–2009) and Yuck (2009–2013) before fully dedicating himself to film composition.

Beyond music and visual art, Blumberg also has a deep passion for football. His love for the sport started in childhood, inspired by his father, who also enjoyed playing football.

In an interview with The Guardian, he shared that before winning music awards, the only trophy he had ever won was "Best Football Player" at the age of six.

As a devoted fan of Tottenham Hotspur, Blumberg sees football as more than just a sport—it’s a way to connect with friends and family.

From music to visual art, from football to an Oscar win, Daniel Blumberg’s journey is proof that passion and exploration can lead to extraordinary achievements.
