Secondupdate.com - American singer Chris Brown has filed a $500 million lawsuit against Warner Bros for defamation stemming from claims made in the Investigation Discovery documentary series.
According to a report by People on Thursday, Brown is suing Warner Bros, Ample, and the producers of the documentary film for alleged defamation. The defamation is said to have caused emotional distress due to the claims made in the film.
Brown filed the lawsuit in the California Superior Court for the Los Angeles County on Tuesday, January 21. According to circulating information, the film features a woman sharing her experiences with Brown.
The lawsuit includes accusations that a woman identified as Doe had previously been "discredited" as a "partner abuser and self-harmer."
Additionally, the lawsuit claims that Brown has never been convicted of sexual crimes, but the project portrayed him as a "serial rapist" and "sexual abuser."
Meanwhile, Brown's lawyer explained that he and his client have been working to repair his reputation over the past decade. With the release of this film, Brown's reputation has been tarnished.
"Mr. Brown has grown from those experiences, and his evolution speaks for itself," the lawsuit continued. "This new production disregards that growth and chooses to rehash stale allegations while reinforcing them with provable lies.
